Page O' Conferences and Conventions

I occasionally get announcements of various professional conferences and and conventions around the world that have something of interest to game AI developers. This page is where I pass this info on to you. Most of the posts will be taken directly from any press releases I receive; a few will be my own wonderous prose. (See if you can tell the difference!)

I usually hear about conferences of through the game site or in various forums, but that doesn't mean I catch them all. If you know of an upcoming convention or conference that game AI developers might be interested in, or if you've just got a local group getting together to talk "game stuff", please let me know and I'll post it here.

Note that there's a great kind of "meta site" for all kinds of various game-industry related events and conferences. It doesn't cover game AI events per se, but there are often roundtables and sessions on the subject. Hop on over to GameMining.Net if you're interested.

The 1st Indian Conference on Artificial Intelligence -- December 18 - 20, 2003, Hyderabad, India
IICAI-03 bills itself as the first-ever Indian conference on Artificial Intelligence. There have clearly been others so I'm not sure about that, but leaving that to one side the show does promise to be interesting.

The 12th International Conference in Central Europe on Computer Graphics -- February 2 - 6, 2004, Plzen, Czech Republic
While not at the forefront of AI technology or dedicated exclusively to it as with some other conferences, GSCG2004-03 nevertheless has a variety of lectures and roundtables which the more academic AI enthusiast might find of use. There will be sessions on computer vision and image processing, modeling of virtual realities, and related fields.
